Three Essential Oil Blends For Calm Focussed Kids

health care self care tips Nov 02, 2015

Now that kids are back in school, tensions can run high as parents try to make sure homework is getting done, kids are adjusting to routines with new classes, teachers and subjects, and distractions with phones, iPads and games are greater than ever. It can be stressful and chaotic! Sometimes we need a little outside help to keep things calm and centered (for the kids and ourselves!). Here are three essential oil blends for calm focussed kids that can be a Godsend to have around the house and can be safely and effectively used on a daily basis. You can make them yourself, or even better, you can get them already blended and ready to go!

Grounding blend
This is one of my favorite blends. Made up of woody, earthy essential oils, it is incredibly calming and grounding. When I feel stressed out, or if Valentina is stressed out, this is the blend we use and it takes the stress level down immediately. This blend is great for when kids are all worked up, if tensions are high, or if they are upset or have anxious feelings.

The blend is comprised of Spruce, Ho Wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy and Blue Chamomile. It works great when diffused in a diffuser, or can be applied topically. I carry it around in my purse in a roller bottle diluted with coconut oil, and will just do a quick roll on my neck or the inside of my wrists if I’m feeling stressed out, or if I have something on like a public speaking engagement that I want to be calm and centered for. It’s also great to use on kids that way, and can be useful to have when out and about to help them find their calm selves again!

2. Calming Blend

While this blend has some commonalities with the Grounding blend, I do find them quite different. Calming blend is more floral in fragrance, it has a stronger lavender scent to it where the grounding blend is more woody. Calming blend can also be used for anxious feelings, as it is also very soothing for the nerves, lessens tension and calms the emotions. It helps counter stressful feelings and combats worry. This blend is used particularly to promote restful sleep too – it can be diffused in the bedroom, or applied to the soles of the feet before bed. I sometimes put 1-2 drops in the bathtub with Valentina to help her relax and unwind in the evening. The blend contains Lavender, Marjoram, Roman Chamomile and Ylang Ylang, with Hawaiian Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean added for their wonderful aromas.

3. Focus blend

This blend is amazing for promoting focus and concentration. I can myself attest to how wonderfully it works, having seen a major difference in my writing capabilities on the days I used it for writing my book, versus the days I did not use it. This is the blend we use in children who struggle with focus and attention, and can be used in the morning before school and again in the afternoon before homework time. It is quite strong smelling, so many people like to apply it on the soles of the feet, but it can also be applied on the temples or base of skull for proximity to the olfactory nerves and the brain! Personally, I found it to work just as well when applied on the soles of my feet. It’s also great for an afternoon pick-me-up at work, and helps me stay on task throughout the entire day. Sandalwood, Frankincense and Lime contribute to the focus-promoting elements of this blend, while Patchouli, Ylang Ylang and Roman Chamomile are soothing and calming.

These three blends are available already made and ready to go. I can even show you how you can get them at wholesale prices, so please contact me and I help you get them into your home! These are three blends I cannot live without. Pop some Grounding Blend into the diffuser when your kiddos come home from school, roll some Focus Blend on the soles of their feet before they do their homework, then end the evening with some Calming Blend before they go to bed – watch your household become more calm, focussed and productive!!
